Privacy Policy

What data this site collects, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated 22 October 2026.

1. Who is responsible

This site, mtl.dev, is run by Mariusz Smenżyk. For anything about your data, write to [email protected].

2. What I collect and why

  • Email and calendar: when you write to me or book a call, I get your name, email address and what you send me, so I can reply. There is no contact form or newsletter sign-up on this site.
  • Analytics: the site uses Google Analytics 4 with Google's consent mode. The Google tag loads on every page. Before you choose, and after you reject analytics, it sends pings without cookies (for example that a page was viewed), marked as "no consent". After you accept analytics, it also sets its cookies and measures visits in full: pages viewed, device and rough location. The legal basis for this full measurement is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
  • Server logs: the hosting and network providers keep standard request logs (IP address, time, page) to run and protect the site. The legal basis is legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).

3. Who processes the data

  • Google (Firebase Hosting) hosts the site files.
  • Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it from attacks. Cloudflare Email Routing receives email sent to [email protected].
  • Google (Gmail) is the mailbox those emails are forwarded to and sent from.
  • Google Analytics measures traffic, as described above.
  • Cal.com handles call bookings.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Each of them describes how it protects that data in its own privacy policy.

4. How long I keep it

Emails stay in my mailbox for as long as the conversation needs. Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics.

5. Cookies and local storage

Your cookie choice is saved in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_6WS27RZWMT. The banner also has a marketing option. The site shows no ads. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookies" link in the footer. If you withdraw consent, cookies that were already set stay in your browser until they expire or you delete them, but they are no longer used.

6. Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, a copy of it, a correction, deletion, or a limit on how it is used. You can object to processing and withdraw consent at any time. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to your data protection authority. In Poland that is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).
